Sarah Sunshine Pottery is excited to announce that on Sunday, April 12th, 2026, we will be hosting our Fifth Annual Deviled Egg Contest at our store on 105 Cherry Street in Black Mountain, from 1:00pm – 2:30pm.
There will be delicious, deviled eggs and great prizes, and YOU can be a judge! Invite your neighbors, your family, your friends!

What are you signing up for if you say yes to competing in the contest?
First, you are committing to good small town old fashioned fun!
Second, you are agreeing to bring one dozen completed deviled eggs by 11:30 am to our store on April 12th.
Any type of deviled egg, from a simple tried and true recipe to your most outlandish recipe is welcome in this contest.
Deviled eggs are traditionally made by cutting a boiled egg in half. We are requesting that you boil a dozen eggs, turn them into 24 deviled eggs, and then after you make your eggs that you also cut them in half again – hence 48 pieces total - so each egg becomes four pieces, that way more people will get a chance to try your eggs!
Along with the eggs you will need to bring a 3x5 index card with the ingredients you used neatly printed on the front, and your name and contact info on the back. We want everyone to feel safe to try the food. Please make sure your name and phone number is also somewhere on the underside of the platter the eggs are on so we can get it back to you! (We transfer all of the eggs onto our handmade trays – so feel free to bring them in on paper plates too). You may pick up your platter and prizes from the store on Monday, April 13th, between 11:00am and 4:00pm.
What if you don’t want to make deviled eggs but you want to be a Judge?
Lucky for you, everyone who comes to the store and tries out the eggs is a judge! The judges will be you - our community. Anyone who comes into the store between 12-1:30 pm that wishes to taste the eggs will be able to (as long as quantities allow). Thus far we have always had a chef bring in Vegan deviled eggs! There is something for everyone.
After trying the eggs you will rank your top three choices and submit your vote. Winners will be announced on Monday, April 13th on our blog and social media.
What are the prizes?
Everyone who brings in a dozen deviled eggs will receive a Sarah Sunshine Pottery ornament or necklace as a thank you! ($19 value).
The third-place winner will receive a Sarah Sunshine Pottery chicken tray ($25 value),
The second-place winner will receive a set of Sarah Sunshine Pottery Salt and Pepper Shakers
($58 value),
The First-place winner will receive a Sarah Sunshine Pottery Deviled Egg tray ($69 value).
**If you have already won one of these prizes you are welcome to trade**
We also have an event page on facebook. Please RSVP and message us letting us know if you are making eggs. If you do not message we will assume you are coming as a judge, not a contestant.
